The Earth holds its own values and applies them in its unfolding.
The lessons of simplicity, connectedness, embracing change and balance, that we find in nature are not accidental and we can use them to enrich our life experience.
We are moving steadily and with the shock of awakening into a new realm of deeper questions that center on the nature of who we are. It is a realm where the people and places are the same but our perceptions are vastly different.
"Voices of the Earth" is a must read that presents a compelling bridge between the technological and the natural worlds, the scientific and the spiritual. Using the language and logic born of his scientific training and experience, author/geologist, Adam Chapuis, thoughtfully examines the role that our planet has played in nurturing and supporting human development into this current technological age, and the profound costs. The result is a profound vision of the choices that are already confronting us. --Robert Case, author Daedalus Rising --Robert Case, author Daedalus Rising

Voices of the Earth Life Lessons from a Blue Planet Adam Chapuis
Written from the heart and conviction by a scientist. Earth will endure, even if humanity achieves its ultimate extinction by thinking that they are a chosen item, separate from all other creatures and to be served by earths resources. Chapuis (any relation to the 19th century English explorer?) a geologist, reaffirms climate change as a fact to live or die with, the extinction of renewable edible resources such as fish, advocates for more thought spent on our relation with the earth as the place we live. The only shortcoming of the book is that is about 50 pages too short in analyzing the consequences of our mindless drive to disappearance as a species.Product details

Voices of the Earth Life Lessons from a Blue Planet Adam Chapuis Reviews
Voices of the Earth - Life Lessons from a Blue Planet, is thought provoking and illustrates how we are connected to everything around us. As someone who is not a scientist nor devoted to a specific doctrine I found this book enlightening in its description of relationships - not only human relationships but with all life forms on this planet and their connectivity to each other. It describes the powerful energy of this planet as it exists now and how it has adapted through the millennia and our connection to everything.
For me, this book is more than a must read. It is a guide for when things in life seem out of balance. It provides a calmness and clarity to shift away from the commotion in everyday life and refocuses chaotic energy to a productive energy.
Adam has a beautiful way with words, so descriptive and meaningful, that make the book a visceral experience while connecting the reader intimately with the earth and the life lessons she provides. Once a person has read this book, they can no longer take our beautiful and powerful planet for granted. As a metaphysician, I was profoundly moved by how Adam weaved our connectedness to the earth and hers with us in a deeply entwined relationship that abides by the natural, Universal principals we both share. The gift this book gives the reader is an expanded view of their relationship with the earth and the guidance, hope, and wisdom it continues to provide us as we transition into more uncertain times. I found myself feeling filled with unending gratitude and strengthened with a renewed bond, commitment and respect for the earth and all her wisdom and gifts.
Adam Chapuis book 'Voices of the Earth' is thought provoking and enlightening. Mr. Chapuis perspective grounding as a scientist, specifically a geologist, creates an unusually insight. And that insight is what makes this book important and unique; for this is a book that focuses on our spiritual balance in life on this wondrous planet. His writing style is relaxed more than staid and yet there is an element of the scholar. I found my self stopped and forced to reflect on the depth and meaning of a new revelation several times in his writing. This is not an unusual characteristic in a book that reflects deeply on the state of the spiritual. For other authors such as CS Lewis, Bonheoffer,or Eckhart Tolle can cause the same reaction. And though I will not forgive a fiction author for throwing me out of a book; I have come to expect it from a though provoking author who deals with a subject as deep as the spirituality of the human environment in the universe. Mr. Chapuis writing as an aspiring Earth Monk does not disappoint.
This book is a MUST read for everyone who lives on this blue planet! The author does an exceptional job of linking our personal values with the values that the earth teaches and supports. In the 21st century we are experiencing change at a higher pace than we did in the 20th century, and it is predicted to continue this way. Few people I know like change and know how to cope with it. The earth, if we are looking and listening, can point the way for all of us to learn how to cope and adapt with all the changes that happen in our lives on a daily basis and throughout our lives - both small and large, and professionally and organizationally as well. This is both a spiritual book and a practical book that makes science and geology understandable and usable which is a gift to those of us who are not scientists. It is important that you take the time to really read this book as it is rich in detail and concepts and the book deserves a dedicated effort. Once you do, I am confident that you will view this planet in a different way, and that you will have an increased appreciation for nature and all that it is here to teach us about how to live a balanced life. Wish the author would write a series for children as kids ages 3 to 18 need to understand these concepts and lessons, especially with all the emphasis around global warming. Our kids will be the inheritors of the earth this century and someone needs to develop in them respect and an appreciation for this planet and all that it is and all that it provides to sustain us in so many ways.
This was a good book. I enjoyed the author's passion and his knowledge of the Earth and the interdependence of all things. I recommend this for anyone who desires to a life as a part of something much bigger than our individual selves.
The author's writing and presentation was very approachable for us "lay" people. I loved the hope and trust shown by the thoughts of connection to each other, to life, to the past -present-future. The knowing that "all is well".
